Bio
Jaeok Lee engages deeply with Korea's cultural traditions, reconnecting with rituals and symbols to bring them into her contemporary practice. During a long period of undiagnosed illness, while seeking healing, she became fascinated with traditional beliefs, talismans, and rituals. Her work has evolved into a reflection of this personal journey. It weaves together her recovery process with an exploration of Korean heritage and human connection, resulting in art that is both introspective and grounded in cultural tradition.
Her sculptures have been exhibited at venues including Boston Sculptors Gallery, Lanoue gallery in Boston, Viewpoints Gallery in Hawaii, and the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society. She has received several awards, including Best of Show at the Concord Center for Visual Arts in the Frances Roddy Competition. Her works are part of public collections, including Delta Airlines, and are held in numerous private collections in Belgium, Germany, Canada, and the United States. Through her art, she continues to explore the intersection of personal experience and cultural history.
